So you mighta heard: Nintendo released the sequel to the best game ever a couple of days ago, and they even designed a new Zelda 3DS XL after the new game. Naturally, I picked one up to replace by non-XL 3DS. I mean, Zelda, right? I'm sold.
One of the first things I did with my new XL was perform the transfer. It was a bit more complex than I expected, to be honest, but I went through with it. At one point in the transfer, it notified me that there was insufficient space on the SD card. From what I understood, I was ensured that, although this would prevent some of my games being transfered, I could redownload them all. And I have. I had the 20 Ambassador NES/GBA games, both Oracle games, ACNL, and some others. All redownloaded.
I haven't checked Animal Crossing yet (I'm scared to really), but non of the other games have any of their saved data. There is no saved file on Seasons or any of the other Virtual Console games. Bummer, but I can live. I'll be curshed if my AC town is gone though.
Anyway, to my question: I seem to be missing some StreetPass Plaza data. I have had over 600 streetpasses, had most of the puzzle peices, many of the hats, and had downloaded all four of the new streetpass games. After the transfer, when I went to the Plaza (and updated), I had to redownload (for free) the four streetpass games. None of them have any saved progress. As for the puzzle peices, I have all of the original panels that came with my orginal 3DS, with all of the peices I've collected on them, but I don't have any of the newer panels. Find Mii doesn't seem to have saved any progress. I do, however, still have all my hats and streetpass tags.
So.... what's up? What (if anything) did I do wrong and what (if anything) can I do to fix it? I can live with missing Virtual Console saves, but I can't figure out how to download the missing puzzle panels, and I don't know why some of my streetpass plaza saves are there and others are missing.
In other news, A Link Between Worlds might, MIGHT, be my new favorite game. I'll have to beat it first.
Edit: Animal. Crossing. Data. Is. Gone.
Gone.
I...I'm crushed. What kind of transfer doesn't... TRANSFER? If this was an issue with the space on my SD card I'll be ticked off. It NEVER said I'd lose save data. And when it said that there wasn't enough space I tried to back out of the transfer and free up space, but there was no option to. I had to proceed with the transfer at that point.
Second Edit: So, doing research. I couldn't find much before I posted, but I did find this: http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/309/p/430
And it says:
"If you recently performed a system transfer and chose not to delete the data on the target system's SD Card, you will need to copy its contents to your PC or Mac and then format the card if you still wish to copy the source system's SD Card content to it. How to"
Which... seems to be my solution? I don't want to do this though if it's gonna screw me up. Can someone confirm please that my life is indeed saved and all I have to do is rescue my town of Earth off of my old SD card?
Third Edit:
First off, this guy has my same problem: http://techforums.nintendo.com/thread/28422?tstart=0
And his "solution" of just using the old SD card worked for me. When I put it in, all the old saves show up like magic. It reorganizes my home screen to how I had it, and it has my AC save. I'm assuming it has my Streetpass panels and VC save points also.
So... I followed the steps on that link that I posted in my last edit. I copied all the files on my old SD card to my new SD card using my PC. Aaaaaand.... nothing. Nada. Just more sadness and depression and tears. Even though all the files are on the new SD card... they don't show up on my 3DS.
So... I'd like a fix. I'd consider just using the old card, but it doesn't have my new Zelda game on it that I downloaded from the XL Zelda Bundle. I feel a lot better knowing all my data is still there... but is there any fix so that I can have the convenience of having all my data on one card?
