My 3DS died as a result of water damage. I have not yet sent it in, but it won't turn on.
All my games were purchased through the eShop. I also had about 2 years worth of Streetpass and other history on the system.
The SD card was unaffected and I have it available.
I called Nintendo and they told me that they would probably just end up charging me for a replacement 3DS. Instead, I bought a refurb 3DS XL, called Nintendo, and my account transfer is currently pending.
However I am worried about losing all that Streetpass data and my game saves (again, all eShop downloads).
I have a few questions about the data transfer:
1. When it goes through, will I be able to simply plug in the original SD card and load its games & saves? Or is Nintendo simply giving me the ability to redownload the games and start from scratch?
2. Will I lose all the Streetpass history?
3. If I send the original 3DS in later, and by some miracle they are able to recover the data, can I then load that onto the new 3DS?
