Registration date expired to get free game

I just bought a new Nintendo 3DS XL on May 18, 2014. It said to register between March 1-31, 2014 and get a free download code of either Pokémon X or Y. Is there any way of still registering the game console and getting the free game even though the registration window has expired? Thank you.
