I don't exactly know what to say, but I guess I'll try to get to the point.
I was playing Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Sign with my friends when they were over, and I usually press the stylus on the screen a little hard, but at the same time, I usually hold my 3DS up when I play, so I tend to pull it a bit back from the stylus or whatever, so it doesn't scratch. It's kinda hard to say. Anyway, at one point, I put my 3DS on the down when I was playing (I was still playing on it, but it was just resting on the ground.), and when I was trying to use my stylus to catch a Pokemon on there, I heard this dreadful sound and felt something too. It turns out I either deeply scratched my touch screen, or cracked it a bit. It works normally still, but it bugs the heck out of me, plus it might get worse, so I was thinking of sending it in for a repair.
I'm a bit worried though, 'cause I don't want to lose my data (espically my Streetpass Data) when and if I get it repaired, and I really don't want to send in my SD card. There is nothing wrong with the data, so I don't see why the data would be deleted, or for a reason to send in my SD card. I know for sure that the only problem is the touch screen scratch/crack, because I'm really careful with my 3DS, and I tend to notice a lot of details that other people don't notice because they're to small or whatever. And this 3DS is sort of new because I take really good care of it even though I had it for a little less then a year, because my old 3DS had this totally weird malfunction, and Nintendo had no idea what happened and couldn't fix it, so they sent me a new one. Thank gosh the SD card wasn't corrupted.
Also, is this covered under warrenty? I had my warrenty renewed I believe when I sent it in to get it repaired when my old 3DS malfunctioned.
Afterwards, would a screen protecter help a lot against scratches and cracks?
And one more question (I think). I remember a brought a pack of Wii U Styluses that were Nintendo Licensed or whatever. Is it safe to use a Wii U Stylus for the 3DS?
One more thing I'm going to say. I heard a lot of people said that the 3DS screens rub against each other when you close it and it gets scratched, but I never had this problem, and haven't seen a single scratch from this on both screens (or any scratches or cracks for that matter on the top screen.), so it could not have any scratches or cracks from that.
I hope that this isn't such a big ordeal or whatever as I'm making it out to be...
