Can't connect to Internet in Pokemon Y's PSS

I was able to connect to the internet to receive the Torchic distribution but everytime I try to connect with the PSS to access trades, battles or game sync I get a general error or 006-0502.

I looked up the code and followed the steps provided but it didn't help. I'm using a red Pokemon X/Y 3DSXL. Does anyone have any suggestions or can you point me in the right direction?
