Screen goes black when trying to load a game or do something on the menu

I bought my 3DS back in maybe..2006? I used it for a long time (I don't remember how long) and then I stopped. I just tried it today after a really long time and the screen goes black whenever I'm trying to load a game or I try to do something on the start menu.
