New 3ds XL has trouble reading my micro sd card

Earlier this year my old 3ds 64 gb sd card got corrupted and I had to get a new one. I decided to get the Nintendo New 3ds XL and a 128 gb micro sdhc card. I formatted the card to 32FAT and put it into the 3ds. The 3ds read the card just fine and created its home management data. Once that was done I decided to redownload all my software I had downloaded onto my old 3ds. (I perfer to download all my software from the eshop, just to let you know.) I selected 10 software titles to download later, Phoenix Wright trilogy, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, Smash Bros. for 3ds, Professor Layon vs. Phoenix Wright, Tomodochi Life, Street Fighter 4, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, Etrian Odyssey Untold, Pokemon X, and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. I put the 3ds to sleep mode to let it download. When I check to see how its doing, I see that there was an error. Apparently Pokemon X and Luigis Mansion failed to download. The other games downloaded just fine, but ever since I got that error, I cant download anything else. When I try to redownload any software, it goes to about 99% and then it fails giving me an error. The 3ds also fails to create any extra data. So here is my question, is the problem with the sd card? I read that as long as you format the sd card to 32FAT, the 3ds should be able to use the sd card. It worked with my 64sd card with my old 3ds and I had no problems. Is there something I can do to fix my sd card to work with my 3ds or is the 128gb simply to big and I should get a smaller one?
