I've noticed a weird problem on a few N3DSXL's that I've seen. If you look at the front of the top half of the system, where the two pieces of plastic that make up the top screen meet, there is often an unsightly gap.
Here's what my old N3DSXL looked like, before I sent it into Nintendo for a repair:
It was pretty noticeable, and it concerned me. I've since gotten a different N3DSXL, and at first I thought it was fine. However, upon closer inspection, I can see that it too has a small gap in the same area. It isn't as noticeable as it was in the first system. In fact, it can be hard to see, depending on the light source, but I know the two halves aren't perfectly flush.
Here's a picture of my new system, and my friend's system (mine is the black one). As you can see, they both have a bearly identical gap, just a smaller one.
It's hard to tell whether these gaps are within manufacturing specifications or whether they are actual defects. I know the top screen is held together by four screws, but I'm not sure if there is anything else keeping both parts secure, or whether a small gap should be expected.
I'm curious if this is a more widespread issue.
