Well, here I go. I've been searching for lots of information regarding this, and now I'm here. I certainly hope I can get some answers here! Anyway, let me start from the beginning:
Around this time last year, I had an old 2GB SD card that I was using in my 3DS. This thing was pretty small and didn't really have a lot of room for games; I had New Leaf and a bunch of Ambassador games, but unfortunately didn't have enough room to get some others because of how small the card was (I resorted to deleting a lot of Ambassador games in order to make room for OoT3D, for instance). It was around that time that I decided to pick up a new, bigger card to use instead. I was going to pick up Etrian Odyssey IV at the time and there was no chance it was going to fit with all the other stuff.
So I went out, grabbed a 16GB card, and started using it. Redownloaded my Ambassador games, bought a digital copy of EOIV, and went to town. I later picked up digital copies of a bunch of other games because frankly it was just a lot easier on me - EOU, Tomodachi Life, Fire Emblem Awakening, and so on. But for all that time, my old New Leaf town was sitting on my old 2GB card, essentially forgotten.
Now, of course, I want to dabble back in New Leaf again, having spent nearly a year away from it. But I don't want to keep switching the SD cards in and out, in and out, for the sake of one game, and I've been hunting ever since yesterday night for a way to essentially move all the data on the old small SD card onto the bigger "main" one that I use all the time now. I've already heard plenty of horror stories about people trying to move their data over to a new card and ending up with lost towns, messed-up save data and losing hours of play and content, so I'm extremely leery of moving it over. I've put over 100 hours into my New Leaf file and I'm not going to take any chances that might lose it. So now I'm here, asking for help with how to move the data over.
tl;dr:
- I have a 2GB SD with digital-download New Leaf (important) and OoT3D (meh w/e) data on it
- I have a 16GB SD with literally everything else on it
- I want to move my data on the 2GB card onto the 16GB card since I never use or put the 2GB card in anymore
- I don't want to lose my digital New Leaf save, and I don't want to restart from scratch, so I'm hoping for advice
As an aside, another reason I'm curious about this is because I'm considering buying a New3DS soon (for years I've just stuck with my ol' launch aqua blue), and I'd really love to consolidate all of my data and content onto one microSD card whenever I do get a New3DS. Thus, yadda yadda. Sorry for rambling, eheh. So can anyone offer help, advice or such?
