Hello! I've run into a bit of a problem with a friend's 3ds. (I've also tried a quick search for something along the lines of my problem, but most things having to do with saves are related in some way to system transfers and this is his first and only 3ds.)
We went out to eat on a busy night, so we had our 3ds XLs with us to keep us busy; we each had our copies of Fantasy Life. However, my battery was low but he offered to let me use his system to play another game (because, as the saves work on Fantasy Life, I would have been unable to continue my game.)
My problem comes when we're leaving the restaurant, and he's wanting to play his Fantasy Life again. We were in the car, when I hear him drop something and see his 3ds on the floor of the car, though it wasn't that bad a fall. He was in the middle of opening the game, and as his save select screen comes up, he looks concerned and asks if I did anything to his system. There's nothing on the save select screen but the three-or-so open slots that say "New Game"!
I just had a chance to charge up my system, but before I tested anything I made sure both copies of the game didn't register saves on his device (just in case there was something strange about the way the save data works on the SD card for Fantasy Life). I've now verified that neither game registers anything, I've tested both games on my own 3ds to make sure it's not the game itself that might have an issue, and I've just finished checking the SD cards swapped for each system to see if anything is fishy. I checked a post concerning someone's e-shop download where someone defined the path that the save data for FL might be and there's definitely something there; it just won't register on the game. I'm running out of ideas for what might be the problem.
I want to know if there's any sort of known issues with things like this, where maybe a slight jolt can mess up the save data for Fantasy Life? Seeing as it's, to my knowledge, solely housed on the SD card? I feel awful that I was the last one to have used his 3ds only for him to come up with missing save data for a game he's worked so hard on... I would really appreciate any and all help.
