Does anyone know if nintendo monitors this forum?
There is huge ergonomics issue with the power button due to it's location and behavior.
Current behavior:
Momentarily pressing the power button results in the running software closing and the system displaying a message telling you to touch a button on the screen to shut down or to press home to go back to the main menu. Depending on how the system is held it becomes very easy, especially durning difficult sections of games that use the c-stick and buttons, to brush by the power button and shut down the software with no warning.
See the image below for how I have to hold the unit, the arrow marks the off button location, I have to use my pinky finger to position my tumb above the c-stick or action buttons.
Should be:
Off button has dsignificant delay (after all it doesn't actually turn the unit off), or suspends the game similar to what pressing the home button does.
This is quite a large issue that has happened to me 6 or 7 times, all during boss battles (which means significant amount of progress is lost each time). The issue is exasperated due to the fact that:
A. the back of the unit is kind of slick combined
B. you have to hold the screen pretty close to your face to avoid ghosting at the edges of the screen with 3d turned on as when the unit is held close to your eyes the most natural position is to hold the device almost straight up and down, causing it to want to slip out of your grip due to gravity unless you use your pinkies as kind of a shelf.
Nintendo, are there any plans to fix this issue with a firmware update? I like the new 3ds very much but this is kind of a deal breaker for me as it means almost every game that isn't stylus based is going to be shut down at least a couple times, I imagine it's worse for left handed people who will want to hold the unit with their Right hand while using the stylus.
