So, I have a digital copy of Omega Ruby and after playing it on and off for a few months, this message displays and the game refuses to play. I've read about similar issues for Pokemon X and Y, and I understand that there may very well be no way to retrieve the save; however, I want to try. I have played Pokemon for a very, very long time, more than likely 10+ years. With every generation shift, I have transferred many of my beloved Pokemon, and have invested an insurmountable amount of time into breeding, EV training, and nurturing these little monsters with my heart and soul. These lines of code representing Pokemon have had a significant amount of meaning to me and I refuse to accept that there can't be a way to recover the save file containing literally all of them.
I have two theories on what happened:
1) Last time I was playing, I was in a rush to turn the game off so I could tend to something. I waited for the game to save and instantly turned my 3DS off; apparently, despite the game "instant saving", there may very well have been something that went wrong, and now the 3DS doesn't recognize the save file.
2) Earlier today, when I went to actually play my game, my 3DS prompted some kind of system update when I tried to play Omega Ruby. I let the update download, and then the 3DS reset. After that, the game save stopped working with my 3DS.
I have no idea what actually caused this, but so far, those are my two leads. Can anyone help me at all? Is there anyway to force the 3DS to recognize the save file and allow me to access it? Is there seriously nothing I can do to fix this problem?
