Pokemon Omega Ruby DPad help

I can't get my character to tip toe. It's strange because It use to work before when I moved the d-pad a bit, but now each time I move the d-pad with any amount of pressure, it either doesnt move my character or makes my character run. I've tried recalibrating my d-pad in the settings but it's doesn't fix it. Help?
