Recently my 3DS, along with everything attached to it, was stolen out of a hotel room. However, about 2 weeks prior to this, I removed the SD card from my 3DS, and copied everything that was on it onto my laptop PC. I then put it back into my 3DS to, of course, use it again.
I bought a new 3DS XL, called a Nintendo representative, and they were able to transfer my Nintendo Network account to my brabnd new 3DS. While I was on the phone with them, I asked them about being able to use the save data that I had saved on my computer. They said that I should be able to use the save data as long as I did not tamper with or look at the files inside the folders on the computer. All I had to do was copy them onto the new 32 GB SD card that I purchased alongside my new 3DS.
After the 4-5 day wait period, I got the e-mail saying the Nintendo Network Transfer/Removal was complete. Before I turned my 3DS on or did anything for that matter, I copied the data from my computer to my new SD card, and inserted it into the system. However, it seems as though none of my data is usable. It is as if the data that was on my 3ds previously has been partitioned off into a section on the SD card that is not even readable by the 3DS.
So is there something I need to do in order to make this save data viable? Or did the Nintendo rep I spoke to just assume that I could use my old data without looking into it?
So far, since it takes so long to download these games, I have only tried using the save data with Pokemon X, as it has about 10 years of save data tied to it (from the original Ruby version on the GBA), and the SteetPass Mii Plaza, because it comes with the system. I want to verify whether or not I can get my save data to work before I begin downloading all of my other titles, as I know it will take a while to do so.
Any help would be appreciated.
