I have owned a 3ds xl for almost 3 years now, but somehow after very good care my 3ds xl began to accumulate scratches on most of the outside covering. This is not just me that has this, but many people around the world has this problem. My biggest question is why did nintendo not think about durability and life span? This impacts hard on people with limited editions, luckily I have the original blue because I bought it right when it came out. The original 3ds had no problem until "bigger the better" became "bigger the worst". I really want a repair of a toughen up. The only problem is that my 3ds xl is out of warranty and club nintendo won't "approve" it for an extension. I really want a change in this soon. One more thing, almost everyone that took care of it to the highest always has a mark visible to light or either.
