I think my game isn't working

I recently bought the game Pokemon X, and I proceeded to play the game.  I get through part of the intro of the game. Once the Talonflame hits into the player and feathers fly through the air, my screen begins to go dark, and I then will recieve a message to hold down to power button to turn off and try again. I'm not sure if this has to do with the game (I only have one game) or my 3ds won't play physical games. Also to keep in mind, I do have a digital version of New Super mario 2 and it plays it fine.
