My first 3DS has its 3D gone, the bottom screen colours are weird (everything looks pale) and it's also affected by the suprisingly common shutting-off-with-a-pop problem. I can still turn it on, but it'll take around 20 tries. So, instead of sending it away, I may as well upgrade to a XL. Before I do a system transfer, I have some concerns. i'm really worried about my Animal Crossing and Pokemon Y save files, as more than 200 hours have been spent on each one. Would they survive?
I'm also wondering if I could take out the SD card with them on it, put another SD card into the system and then transfer. This way the games could be safe and sound in case anything goes wrong. Could the saves be usable on my XL (now with the broken 3ds' files) when I put the card back in?
