My son's 3DS XL, which we got back from Nintendo repair (a replacement affair since the cracked screen/hinge wasn't deemed repairable), is now only able to play 1 game (Batman Lego). All other games, including Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon and Mario Kart 7 (his favorites), are now no longer working. The exact symptom is variable - Luigi's is stuck on the 3ds black/red screen, while Mario Kart 7 look like it's going to work, but when a Grand Prix race is starting it gives an error that a error has occurred and the system will reboot after a long white screen.
It's not the cartridges at fault - they play just fine in my daughter's 3DS XL.
I've done a system wipe, replaced the SD card with another, and toggled just about everything I can think of to no effect (wifi on, off, etc). I grabbed the v1.1 update for Mario Kart 7 from the eshop, without any change in symptoms.
Time to send it back to Nintendo, or are there some other troubeshooting steps to take?
(He actually didn't tell me about this until very lately, since he didn't want to have to pay for another repair; but I'm thinking this one isn't his fault).
