Corrupt SD card, but...

So in the middle of playing Monster Manor at Emerald City Comicon, I got a 'cannot detect SD Card' message on my 3DSXL. I promptly took the time to shut down my 3DSXL, took out the card and reseated it, thinking hey, maybe I jostled it somewhat weirdly (was waiting in line at a packed restaurant, so it could've happened). When I booted back up, it said 'deleting corrupt data' and my heart starts to flip-flop, and sure enough, I get back into the StreetPass MII Plaza, and while my people are all there, and my countries, achievements, etc., are all there, all my games are busted back to the beginning with no save data, and my puzzle pieces are gone. A miserable go-round with phone support later (they were perfectly nice, but this wasn't on the script) and I'm here, at their request.

Why, when clearly, it's data loss? Naturally, at first I assumed that this was The End, my lovely Warrior's Way army was gone, my Flowers were all gone...my puzzle pieces were all gone, apart from the Original Seven.

But then a weird thing happened. My friend who was with me got me on StreetPass, after this had happened. And she saw all my puzzle pieces. And then when she played Warrior's Way, she saw my millions-strong army. So this gave me hope, even if I didn't see them myself.

I spent the weekend trying out a new SD card with the same content (no juice). I tried doing a data recovery onto my hard drive off the original SD card, but I haven't found any different data, after going through the recovered file structure, just two .mdf files that I assume are hidden on the original SD card (which is from the list of supported/recommended SD cards for the 3DSXL). One sliver of good news is that this morning, after another reboot (with the original card in), all my puzzle pieces are suddenly there. But my games are still not showing up. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
