I bought a 2DS, for my 7 year old son, this past Christmas and I was told (target employee) that the 2DS was put in this new form factor to get away from the problems with broken lids and cracked screens. Supposedly the new form factor is suppose to be able to take a small drop with no problem. Now I understand, no device with an LCD screen in it is 100% shatter proof. But I am a bit upset that the both screens cracked so easily when he dropped it while getting out of the car. I am trying to decide whether to repair this or buy something else. What I really want to know... Is this is typical of the 2DS systems. Is it really that fragile that it will shatter on a 2 to 3 foot drop? I will not put any more money into something so fragile as that.
