I was wondering if you could answer a question for me.
Christmas 2012, I received my first 3DS XL. Thinking it wouldn't break, I put all of my old DSiWare on it, as well as downloaded new games onto it without prior registering it. This means I can't redownload the software on it using the eShop. Well, that one broke, but before it did, I smartly backuped all of my data onto it's SD card... Or so I thought.
Upon receiving my second 3DS XL this February, I was eager to redownload and replay any games I bought on the eShop. I thought that, maybe, the only thing I wouldn't have been able to redownload was the DSiWare, which I could accept, as these things do have a few limitations. I was wrong, and when I checked, I wasn't able to redownload anything at all, not even the software I purchased from the time I registered my old 3DS to the last software I purchased on it.
Thinking all hope was not lost, I tried to backup the data from my old SD card. Lo and behold, I backed it up wrong. I tried to transfer the files from the SD card that came with my old one to the SD card that came with this new one, but that alone was not enough of a success. I was able to transfer my music files and recording files, as well as my photos, so I'm pretty sure I did the copy/pasting correctly. (Yes, I did follow the directions on the support topic.) However, I wasn't able to recover my backed up files.
I'm a bit bothered that I can't figure out any way to recover the games I bought from the eShop on my old 3DS XL. I contacted Nintendo about a week ago, but they still haven't contacted me back.
Is there a method of data transfer I'm overlooking, or is there something I'm doing wrong? Or am I just doomed to have lost the ~$30(?) I spent on eShop titles? Please give it to me straight.
