Help with Pokemon X and Y Promotion.

Hello! This is my first time on this, and I need help getting the download codes for one of the two Pokemon games. I wanted to get Pokemon Y for my friend, on his 3DS and I registered it with the serial code and the game's Pin. I've seen on here that I may need to also get a Pin from the 3DS box, but I'm not sure if he still has the box. I had also registered his 3DS on my Club Nintendo account, because he was having trouble making one. I'm not sure what to do and I wanted to do this for my friend. Can you please help me? I had even sent an email to Nintendo, but didn't receive one, back.
